National Mountbiking Champs 2017

Congratulations to sisters Daniella and Jess Guiney for competing at the 2017 Professionals National MTB Championships during summer tournament wee in Rotorua. The girls competed in the XCO Championships at Whakarewarewa Forest, both girls finished competitively in the respective grade, Daniella Under 20 and Jess Under 16.

Aoraki Secondary Schools Mountainbike Champs 2016
The Aoraki Secondary Schools Mountain Bike Championships was held on Saturday 17 September at Centennial Park, Timaru (Scenic Reserve).  Entries were up on last year's event, riders competed a challenging cross country course but the Roncalli students all rode well, congratulations to the following who gained top 3 placings:-
Jack Gibbs won the U17 boys 6 lap course in a very impressive time of 49mins, (6 x 3km laps);
Daniella Guiney finished 2nd in the U17 girls race.

In the U15 girls competition (4 laps), Roncalli riders placed 1st and 2nd overall, Jess Guiney (1st) and Erin Hall (2nd);
Well done to everyone involved, huge thanks to Mr Pribis and Mr Sutherland for their time and commitment with after school training rides leading up to the champs and assisting on the day.

The next  event on the calendar is the NZSS & SISS MTB champs which is being held in Dunedin during the school holidays.
Aoraki Secondary Schools Mountain Bike Championships 2015
Congratulations to Jack Gibbs and Chris Hogg both winners of their respective grades at the Aoraki Secondary Schools Mountain Bike Champs held at Raincliff Forest on Saturday 19 September 2015.
Jack won the U15 boys XC (cross country) & downhill races and Chris won the U17 boys XC (cross country) & downhill races.
A special mention to Jack for being the fastest rider overall in the downhill race over the four age groups.
Well done to both boys and best of luck competing at the South Island Secondary Schools Mountain Bike Championships in Dunedin during the school holidays.

SISS & NZSS Mountain Bike Championships
Chris Hogg & Jack Gibbs travelled to Dunedin to compete at the combined SISS & NZSS Mountain Bike championships held at Wakari Creek and Signal Hill from 3 - 6 October.  The event was held over three days competing in a mixture of weather from snow flurries one day and bright sunshine the next.
Congratulations to both boys on their exceptional results finishing in the top 3 Nationally in their age groups. With only 2 students representing Roncalli College we finished a credible  14th overall in New Zealand and 11th overall in the South Island, a pretty good effort with over 40 teams competing.
Chris Hogg - Under 17 Boys:
NZSS -   2nd Cross Country;
                6th Downhill;
                6th Super D;
                3rd overall points (145pts);
SISS -     1st Cross country;
                4th Super D;
                6th Downhill;
                2nd - overall points (158pts);
Jack Gibbs - Under 15 Boys:
NZSS -   2nd Cross Country;
                5th Super D;
                9th Downhill;
                4th overall points (141pts);
SISS -     2nd cross country;
                3rd Super D;
                8th Downhill;
                3rd overall points (152pts);
A huge thank you to Jan Gibbs for transporting the boys down to Dunedin and supporting them throughout the weekend along with Andrew Hogg.
